Beholder

Now a new thing
Settle for something never
Anticipated
Step carefully and
Speak less and less.

Behind the back corner
Of the house
Where no one
Ever goes dust
Of a dry summer
Layered on the boards
Of a fence
Chrysanthemums bear
Their blossoms in
Shadow withdrawn

From the light and
Withering heat in their
Quiet corner where no
One ever goes nor
Sees them except me
In this one glancing
Moment quick gathering
Lavender and gold
Catching and holding on
Never to let go.

Every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries with it the seed of an equal or greater benefit. Napoleon Hill
